Pricing of Excel Programmer

Hourly Rate versus Project Cost

This page goes over our approach to pricing. In the US, our rates go from $50 an hour and up, depending on your needs. But actual programming of Microsoft Excel's VBA (Macros - code) usually starts at $75 US and increases from there. $50 an hour is a rate we honor and do charge, but it is for simple data entry work, simple worksheet design, etc. The more complicated the work the higher the rate. As such work for advanced SharePoint programming costs more than Excel formula creation. But no worries, we offer a free estimate, so you know the anticipated cost of your project before you commit to spend a single penny.

While the developers work out of corporate offices around the globe, some in Irvine California, Los Angeles, Dallas, New York, Manchester, and Sydney, the rate is the same, in the same country. So the rate in London is the same as Manchester, or Orange County is the same as San Diego County.

The better the Excel consultant the higher the rate. They have more experience, they do better work, they have less tweaking to do, and they do the work in less time.

When considering the price for professional Excel consulting services I like to use the analogy of buying a new car or desktop computer. When you begin your search for a new car, say via Google, do you simply look for the lowest hourly rate of the person manufacturing the car or do you look at the TOTAL price of the car that will be delivered? Which are you paying?

As far as the TOTAL price of the car, well, the higher the price hopefully the more you get, right? Pay more get more, pay less, get less? Do you want to buy a KIA? Maybe so, if so, you will pay less than you will for a BMA, both for the hourly rate and the total cost of the car. When you consider the total cost for all of the hours of work required to manufacture the car, and the cost of the raw building materials to do so, etc., do you look for the lowest priced car? If you answered yes to both of these questions, think of what you will ultimately get. You will get a car that has the lowest possible material costs, and the fewest possible features. Basically you will end up with poorly made tin can. You get what you pay for, or worse, you get less than you pay for. When you buy a BMW or a Mercedes you know what you will get. The hourly rate for the person manufacturing these cars will not be the highest possible rate, that distinction will go to the Bentley, Ferrari, Porsche, etc., workers, but it will also not be anywhere near the cheapest rate, which goes to cars we have never heard of, from some far off country. But it will be in the lower end of top quartile’s range ($100+). Also consider the material costs for a Toyota, BMW or Mercedes. Once again, not the cheapest (Kia). The engine and transmission alone will set you back a few. These cars are expensive. And they are expensive from a reason; they are well made performance vehicles. Once again, you get what you pay for. As such, for smaller projects we work at a project rate. For large projects we work by the hour. In either case will provide you with a free estimate for the possible cost for your project. You will then know the possible cost for your project before you commit a single penny. You can then decide if you want to move forward or not. It is all up to you. No sales pressure, you want the work done or not. That we let you decide. So in the end, look at what you are getting and what you are paying. Forget the cheapest hourly rate found via Google, your excel programmer will possibly be form India, pay more and you might get an excel consultant out of Costa Mesa California, or even Virginia. You will get what you pay for, or worse, less, from a land far far away.

Our Rates our amongst the Best, our work is the Best, our service is the Best, and we stand behind our work with a Guarantee.
